CHALLENGE: HOW MIGHT CCEP IMPROVE THE TRACEABILITY OF OUR PRODUCTS THROUGHOUT OUR SUPPLY CHAIN IN COLLABORATION WITH OUR PARTNERS TO BUILD TOWARDS A MORE CIRCULAR ECONOMY

These terms & conditions regulate the participation in the challenge “How can technology boost CCEP traceability to build a more circular value chain to reach the Net Zero goals 2040?” (the “Challenge”) launched by Fundació Barcelona Mobile World Capital Foundation (hereinafter, “MWCapital”) in collaboration with Coca Cola Europacific Partners (hereinafter “CCEP”). Participation in this Challenge implies full acceptance and compliance with these terms & conditions.

Consequently, the organizer of this Challenge is MWCapital, with address in Barcelona (08039), Pau Vila Square, 1, sector 2-C, Palau de Mar building, with the CIF G-65760431.

Introduction

MWCapital is a non-profit entity that aims to promote the digital transformation of society, helping to improve people's lives globally. Founded and promoted by the Ministry of Economy and Business of the Government of Spain, the Generalitat de Catalunya, Barcelona City Council, Fira de Barcelona and GSMA, MWCapital also has the support of private companies such as Telefónica, Vodafone, Orange, Damm and CaixaBank. With this public and private support, MWCapital focuses its activity in four (4) areas: the acceleration of innovation through digital entrepreneurship; the transformation of the industry through digital technology; the growth of digital talent among new generations and professionals; and reflection on the impact of technology on our society.

CCEP is the largest independent bottler of Coca-Cola beverage in the world, responsible for producing and bottling beverages, along with managing sales and distribution to customers in 29 countries in Western Europe, the Pacific and Indonesia, with a portfolio that includes some of the world’s most popular and iconic beverages, serving more than 1.75 million customers with a reach of more than 600 million consumers. In particular, Spain, Portugal and Andorra make up CCEP’s Iberian division, with which they serve more than 270,000 customers.

Objective

In 2017, CCEP launched "This is Forward", a sustainability action plan which sits at the heart of  CCEP's long-term business strategy and sets out the actions being taken on six key social and  environmental topics, ranging from climate action to sustainable packaging. From switching to  renewables to reducing the carbon footprint of our ingredients, CCEP are making progress. But  are always on the lookout for ways to boost progress, which is why this year, CCEP are  launching an open challenge to search for solutions which can help them become even more  sustainable.

We are looking for students and entities who can provide technological solutions that can help  boost traceability of packaging to help CCEP build a more circular value chain while increasing  efficiency and transparency towards its stakeholders (consumers, suppliers and employees)

This Challenge seeks to achieve its objectives by selecting one (1) winning proposal that will  lead to the launch of a collaboration. Specifically, within the action framework of this  collaboration, it will promote the realization of a pilot project where both the technology and its  impact will be validated in the real context of CCEP.

The current Challenge seeks proposals that bring different perspectives and experiences from  organisations that can contribute to solving the described challenge. It especially looks for  collaborations across the different sectors and fields that are already tackling the described  Challenge.

Thus, this Challenge will be governed by these terms and conditions, which, by the simple fact  of applying, as established in section “7. How to participate” shall be known and accepted  without reservation by the participants.

What is offered by MWCapital

The winning proposal will benefit from:

Preparation of the partnership. MWCapital will be in charge of bringing together the different stakeholders in a collaborative effort to enable the implementation of the winning proposal.

Project execution. MWCapital will co-lead, in collaboration with CCEP, the project execution by assuring the coordination among all partners and defining the project calendar, its objectives, and key milestones.

Project funding. The winning proposal will receive financial support, which will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. Financial support will only be available to activities directly related to the implementation of the winning proposal’s pilot, and will not include any expenses in personnel, travel or subsistence allowances, which must be assumed by the winner. The winner must assume at least 20% of the total budget to implement their proposal (in cash, or in-kind). MWCapital may fund the winning proposal up to a maximum of €40,000 excluding taxes, if so.

Testing ground. The winning proposal will be delivered as a pilot validated in a real-life context at CCEP, coordinated by MWCapital and CCEP.

Communication and dissemination. MWCapital will coordinate the communication activities throughout the project’s life cycle, highlighting the major goals and positioning the project in the field.

For the avoidance of doubt, submission of the registration form does not guarantee an opportunity to participate in the Challenge. The 10 semi-finalist entities will be announced between April 16 and April 19, 2024.

Stage 2: Ideation Weekend

The 10 semi-finalist entities are required to participate in "Stage 2: Ideation Weekend," a two-day session that will take place on May 3 and 4, 2024.

This session will be conducted online. Methodology masterclasses will be provided online, and various experts globally will also be available online, as well as CCEP employees for specific queries. However, participants wishing to do so may utilize CCEP's facilities (in Barcelona and Berlin) as a coworking space.

During this stage, entities may optionally have access to a talent pool - comprised of students and freelancers from fields such as Design and Storytelling, Engineering, Big Data, Virtual Reality, Artificial Intelligence, Climate Science - who will collaborate at no cost in this 2-day session to enrich the proposal with new ideas and diverse perspectives.

This session involves a guided process following an innovation methodology to evolve the semi-finalist ideas into high-value propositions. The innovation methodology covers the following criteria:

                    - Feasibility: Technical and commercial feasibility of the idea
                    - Scalability: The potential for scaling the proposal in other contexts
                    - Regulations & Future Scenarios: How the idea can anticipate the future and avoid roadblocks

Participants must submit a proposal that addresses all the above criteria by May 5, 2024, at 5:00 PM (CET).

A jury composed of a group of experts from MWCapital and CCEP will evaluate the received proposals, scoring each of the valuation criteria from 0 to 10 points. The maximum score for this stage is 100 points.

Out of the 10 proposals received, the six (6) proposals with the highest scores in the second stage will be deemed finalist proposals and will advance to the third stage. The 6 finalist entities will be announced on May 7.

Stage 3: Design Sprint

Finalist entities are required to participate in one of the "Stage 3: Design Sprint" sessions, which are two-day events taking place on May 16 and 17, 2024 (in Berlin), and May 23 and 24, 2024 (in Barcelona).

These sessions will be held in person. The sessions will occur at the CCEP NxT Labs in Berlin and Barcelona. Finalist entities must choose the city in which they will attend the session. Entities that do not participate in the Design Sprint session will be automatically disqualified.

In order to offset travel expenses, MWCapital will provide a contribution up to 1,000 euros, VAT excluded, to each of the finalist entities. This financial support is designed to assist with the costs associated with attending the in-person stages of the Challenge. MWCapital acknowledges the importance of easing participation for all finalists and is committed to ensure that financial constraints do not hinder the ability of selected entities to engage fully in the competition process.

Therefore, each finalist entity will have to justify that, at least, an amount equal to or greater than the aid provided by MWCapital has been spent on transportation and accommodation. Under no circumstances will MWCapital grant a contribution whose amount exceeds these expenses justified by the relevant entities.

The Design Sprint session consists of two days of intensive work alongside a group of mentors with the goal of refining the proposal and preparing the final presentation. The following tools will be utilized during this session:
